Mention the word ice cream and my ears perk up!
Well, how convenient that on a quest for some design inspiration Ben and Jerry's sponsored an article with resources to help inspire designers.

My two loves: designing + ice cream

Ipad hits stores... MB has the perfect outfit

The ipad has finally hit Apple stores in the United States.

And of course, Melissa Beth has a solution for this new Apple device!

Our 10.2" Pretty Printed Laptop Sleeve is the perfect size to safeguard the sleek ipad.

Although I am still not crazy about the name "i-pad", I am sure most women feel the same, the device sold 700,000 on the first day- and approximately 1 million over the entire weekend.

As a comparison the iphone only sold 270,000 opening weekend. So it seems as though the ipad, despite its name (sounds like a feminine product) is here to stay.

Want to look busy at work?

On the days where you cannot stomach doing another memo, phone call or any work for that matter, you should play Melissa Beth's ANAGRAM! Its simple and fun.

Try to make as many words as you can for points. You must find the 6 letter word to proceed to the next level.

All the clicking at the keyboard will impress your boss as you challenge your brain to find as many words in the board as possible.

Try and beat the high scorer!
If you can beat the high scorer by March 31st 2010 we will send you a make up case!!

The Decline of MacWorld

Last week I went to MacWorld to visit some customers and see what is new and cool in the Apple World. However, I couldn't help but notice the MASSIVE decrease in size, vendors and overall excitement about MacWorld! It was a bit lame. The only thing that stayed the same was that there was a about a 1:100 female to male ratio.
Has CES taken over MacWorld? Is the era of the trade show changing?

Check out this great article in Digital Trends about the decline and MacWorld's future.

ipad versus the netbook

Apple's iPad vs. the netbooks

By 2011, Apple will have captured 7% of the low-end computer market, says an analyst

So says Deutsche Bank's Chris Whitmore in a note released Sunday.

In fact, he writes, with the release of the iPad this spring, Apple (AAPL) will instantly add more than 50 million users to its addressable market.

"We expect the iPad to compete very well against existing low-end notebooks and netbooks, particularly in the segment of the market where surfing, reading, game playing and emailing dominate the usage model."

ipad- cool tech gadget OR feminine hygiene product?

source: CNN.com

iPad name draws feminine hygiene jokes

San Francisco, California (CNN) -- Punch lines about hygiene products flooded the blogosphere on Wednesday only moments after Apple Inc. announced it would call its new touch-screen computer the "iPad."

"The mocking goes along the lines of: Yes, the iPad is small, lightweight and slim. But can you swim with it?" wrote the Los Angeles Times' tech blog.

The term iTampon -- a riff on the fact that the iPad can be taken to sound more like a maxipad than a slick new computer -- was the third most-talked about trend on Twitter on Wednesday evening.

Some female bloggers wrote that Apple seemed not to have any women on its marketing team

"With "iTampon" quickly emerging as a trending Twitter topic, it's probably safe to say that many women found themselves cringing as they asked, 'Do any women work at Apple?' " wrote Annie Colbert on the blog "Holy Kaw!"

Apple's Ipad

The curtain has been unveiled. Apple launches their ipad (which looks like a cross between an iphone and netbook"

So why is this the next biggest thing since this ipod?

- it is claimed to be "better than a laptop and better than a smartphone"

-the 10" screen will be lightning fast and will be the best browsing experience ever.

-it is pretty design savvy, looks like a larger iphone which has the same rotating and touch screen capabilities as the iphone

-its cheap, at $499, $599 and $699 Apple - a computer at Apple hasn't been this cheap since maybe the 80s. (when that would translate to like $2000+)

This baby will hits stores at the end of March. Want super chic ipad protection?! You know it Melissa Beth has a super cute 10" ipad sleeve. The soft inside lining wont scratch the ipod and the custom neoprene print will keep your new ipad fully covered.

Back to the Future Gadgets and Gizmos

Laptop technology just keeps getting cooler and cooler!! It's such an exciting time to design new laptop bags and tablet cases for all these cool tech savvy gadgets. Lately I feel like all those Back to the Future 2 sci-fi inventions (when MJ Fox goes to the future) actually all exist. Well, except for flying cars!

Well, the Lenova Idea Pad Hybrid laptop/tablet is no flying car but it's definitely Back to the Future worthy. I may even need to watch the movie again to see if they had something as cool. The Screen on the Lenovo IdeaPad actually detaches (without any screws or hinges) and becomes a tablet. When you attach the screen you still have the functionality of a key board. The design alone is extremely sleek (you will win me over with cool design any day!) and it's been getting a lot of praise for its tech savvy features at CES. Launches spring 2010. Melissa Beth Laptop Bags for the 13" MacBook

One of the hottest holiday gifts this season is the 13" Macbook Pro (which now comes in silver instead of black and white) so its not only ultra high tech but also super sleek.

So which Melissa Beth laptop bags are the best for the 13" Macbook?
While all of our laptop bags do accommodate the 13" Macbook, here are some of my fav Melissa Beth laptop totes that I use when I carry my own 13" Macbook.

Inspired by its big sister the 'Pocket full of 'Puter (sounds like pewter for computer) this mini laptop bag fits the 13" Macbook perfectly. Available in bright colors, this bag is not for the boring!

The small slim tote is a mini bag with a super thick foam padded laptop compartment. Adorable printed and thick quilted liner makes this cute laptop bag a must for all.

The pretty printed laptop sleeve has been really popular since its debut in People Magazine last month. The 13" sleeve (available in 3 prints) is the perfect fit the 13" Macbook. This neoprene sleeve is great because you can easily toss your laptop in any of your existing bags and your laptop is still protected!

Net Book Makeover

I recently saw my friends net-book (10.2") laptop sleeve which came with her laptop. I' am sorry to say it was terrible! Is this really the protection that laptop companies are offering their customers?
Dell, Samsung, Acer- you are all guilty!

I know times are tough, but this laptop sleeve was a joke! The neoprene on this laptop sleeve was so thin (it might have even been imitation neoprene), there was no padding, no zipper, no style, and most definitely this failed to offer any protection if the laptop was dropped. You can see from the pic I folded this net book laptop sleeve like it was a piece of paper.
Lucky for her I had one of Melissa Beth's new 10.2" netbook Pretty Printed laptop sleeves.
Thanks guys- Keep making those ugly laptop sleeves and bags!!

Graduation Gifts for Tech Savvy Fashionistas

So your little girl is graduating high school, college, university, post grad or elementary school. These days she is so into her laptop, facebook, twitter and anything technology related you wonder if you will ever be able to relate to her.

Well, here are five sure fire ways to not only relate to your tech savvy gal, but also get her a graduation gift she will love to bits.   Grads- you can thank us later!

1. The new iphone  What young lady wouldn't love the new iphone? You might even want one for yourself! There are so many new cool applications that will make your young lady's life a lot easier at the touch of a button! You can even track her whereabouts at all times through google mobile friend tracker if you have one too!

2. Netbook Now that your graduated girl is moving up the ladder in life she will clearly need to be connected. Technologically connected that is. It's no surprise that these cute light weight netbooks (mini 8"-10.2" laptops) are the fastest growing area in computers.  There has been evidence to suggest that females are noted as heavier users of laptops than their male counterparts. So of course, any gal, at any age would jump at the chance to own a light weight, easy to carry laptop.  I think Toshiba is even making them in pink.

3. Laptop Sleeve Now that your girly grad is fully understanding her laptop why not keep her laptop pretty protected with a feminine laptop sleeve . Be sure to get one that has ample foam protection and reflects her feminine side.  Check out our luxe laptop sleeves and velour laptop sleeves.   Need a netbook laptop sleeve?  Not to worry- check back with us in August (or email us to pre-order) when our new pretty printed neoprene netbook laptop sleeves will be available.

4. Skype Credits So is your graduated darling leaving town? Nervous she wont call you? One of the best and most affordable ways to keep in touch is through Skype. You can video conference through your computer for free once you have account. Okay, so you may be "old-school" and prefer a typical phone call. Buy her some skype credits and she will be able to call you from her computer for much less than using a regular phone. And since most parents help out with the bills these days for college kids- you will be able to save a little and stay connected?!

5. Still can't decide?  How about a gift card to her favorite mall or online store. She will be able to buy anything she likes and it will save you a trip because you wont have to do a return.

Good luck gift givers.

Don't stress to much- it's the thought that counts!
